Teen Advisory Council

Mission

The Teen Advisory Council of the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence is committed to creating a world where loving, respectful, and safe relationships are promoted, and each partner is valued. We recognize that dating violence is a type of intimate partner violence and that a lack of awareness regarding healthy and unhealthy relationships is common. The Teen advisory Council addresses this by modeling positive behaviors, addressing unhealthy attitudes, and participating in Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month.

The Teen Advisory Council is comprised of 10 – 12 teens, ages 13 – 18, representing the demographics and cultures of the state. Each member will offer their unique perspective which will help to inform our outreach to teens statewide. Council members select workshop topics, recommend speakers and suggest other opportunities to help raise awareness about Teen Dating Violence. The Council offers its members community service hours and prepares them for entering the professional arena.

Joining the Teen Advisory Council is both a privilege and a commitment. Each Council member is asked to commit to a 1 year term (July-June). The work is important. Council membership provides the opportunity to be a part of an organization that impacts teens in the state of Mississippi to create healthier, more informed relationships.
