The Mission

The Teen Advisory Council of the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence is dedicated to creating a culture where loving, respectful, and safe relationships are not only encouraged but are the norm. We understand that dating violence is a serious form of intimate partner violence, and many young adults may not fully grasp the differences between healthy and unhealthy relationship dynamics.

The Teen Advisory Council: Advocating for Safe Futures

To confront the pressing issue of dating violence faced by young adults, the Teen Advisory Council actively promotes positive behaviors and challenges unhealthy attitudes that can negatively impact relationships. Throughout the year, we participate in a range of meaningful events, including Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, where we focus on raising awareness and providing education. Our goal is to empower young adults with the knowledge and resources they need to build and maintain healthy relationships, fostering an environment in which everyone feels valued, respected, and safe. Together, we can make a difference and support one another in navigating the complexities of modern relationships.

The Teen Advisory Council is made up of dynamic teens and young adults aged 13 to 18, reflecting the diverse demographics and cultures of Mississippi. Each member brings their unique perspective, enriching our outreach efforts to teens across the state. Together, we work to select relevant workshop topics, recommend engaging speakers, and suggest various opportunities aimed at raising awareness about Teen Dating Violence and promoting the characteristics of healthy relationships.

In addition to our advocacy efforts, the Council provides its members with valuable community service hours, enhancing their resumes and preparing them for future professional endeavors. By participating in the Council, young adults not only contribute to important social issues but also develop essential skills and experiences that will serve them well as they transition into the workforce. We are committed to empowering the next generation of leaders to make a positive impact in their communities.
