Dear Friends and Partners,
Twenty-five years ago, I accepted a position with Care Lodge Domestic Violence Shelter, believing it would be a part-time job until I found another opportunity. Little did I know the journey God had in store for me. That path led me here, to serve as Executive Director of the Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence (MCADV). In April 2026, I marked one year in this role, reflecting on a year filled with purpose, responsibility, and a continued commitment to survivors across Mississippi.
As I reflect on this first year with the Coalition, I also find myself reflecting on the past 25 years. The journey has been nothing short of amazing, filled with lifelong connections, deep friendships, and meaningful professional partnerships across our state. I have had the privilege of witnessing MCADV’s evolution through many seasons, including different leaders, dedicated staff, and new directions, all united by a shared mission.
Over the years, we’ve seen tremendous changes: new policies and laws, improvements in protection orders, and advances in advocacy and survivor support. I am honored to have been a part of these transformations and proud that MCADV continues to stand as a respected leader in the fight against domestic violence in Mississippi.
This past year has been no exception when it comes to change. We have navigated shifts in administration, funding, federal guidance, and state legislation. Change is rarely easy, but through each challenge, our collective strength has made progress possible, carried by our dedicated staff, committed member programs, and passionate supporters.
Thank you to everyone who contributes to this work through your time, service, or financial support. Ending domestic violence is a statewide effort, and it can only be achieved through your steadfast commitment.
With gratitude,
Joy Jones
Executive Director
Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence
Together, we have the strength.
