    Experts in domestic violence have long known that the most dangerous time for a domestic violence victim and her/his children are the days immediately following their separation from their perpetrator, which places family courts worldwide on the front lines of a dangerous and volatile epidemic. Over the past decade, the Center for Judicial Excellence has tracked the number of children murdered by a parent when divorce, separation, custody, visitation or child support was mentioned in news coverage.

  3. National Domestic Violence Hotline

    Comments Off on National Domestic Violence Hotline In 2018, the National Domestic Violence Hotline documented 1,161 contacts from Mississippi. The state ranks 35th in terms of contact volume to The Hotline. The Hotline provides crisis intervention, safety planning, referrals, and Domestic Violence (DV) and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) education for these contacts. (more…)

  5. 10th Annual Purple for Peace Luncheon

    Comments Off on 10th Annual Purple for Peace Luncheon The Mississippi Coalition Against Domestic Violence (MCADV) is excited to host the 10th Annual Purple for Peace Luncheon Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 11:30am.  The luncheon will be held at the Jackson Convention Complex, in Jackson, MS. Retired Judge Marie Wilson will be honored as the 2019 Purple for Peace Prize recipient for her commitment to access justice as the first Superior Court Judge in Mississippi to institute a specialized domestic violence court.   6. Legal Services Workshop

    Comments Off on Legal Services Workshop Please join MCADV for a legal services workshop in Southaven.  The topics will include: The Basics of Domestic Violence, Protection Orders, and the Legal Process.  This is open to everyone: Judges, Clerks, Advocates, Victims, etc.  We will also hold a time for consultations with victims after the workshop is over. The workshop will be held at the Southaven Public Library which is located at 8554 Northwest Drive, Southaven, MS 38671.
