Domestic violence survivor Lavon Morris Grant will explain the dynamics of trauma, systemic barriers impacting trauma services, and the steps to healing. After surviving being shot in the head by her husband, who then turned the gun on himself, Grant has spent the last 15 years of her life traveling the globe in order to educate people about the causes, effects and recovery from domestically violence situations.
Her book, Whom Shall I Fear: A Spiritual Journey of a Battered Woman
, is a “powerful story of how women find ways to rebuild their lives and reclaim their dreams.” Lavon Morris-Grant is a native of New Jersey, and graduate of New Jersey City University with a bachelor’s degree in Marketing. She is a Board member of the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence and a internationally known speaker on topics related to abuse, overcoming adversity and rising to the top. She resides in upstate New York with her three children.

1) Understand the dynamics of trauma experienced by domestic violence victims
2) Learn how culture, systems, and other social barriers impact trauma
3) Address traditional and non-traditional methods of healing
